. >>> in overnight news, a crash in concord leaves one man with life-threatening injuries. police say he was walking across clayton road near bay lie road around 6:15 last night when a car hit him. investigators say the 52-year- old man was not in a crosswalk. he was rushed to john muir medical center. police know who hit him. an investigation is still underway. >>> copper thieves are causing big problems for bay area drivers. alex savidge has a look at -- a look at this problem. >> reporter: copper thieves could be partly to blame for that lengthy commute. they targeted metering lights here at the isabel avenue entrance to 580 here. i will show you what they did. they broke into this electrical box here and they ripped off the valuable copper wire inside and hence the metering lights at this exit/entrance have been out for the couple of weeks. caltrans says a total of 599 lights have been vandalled -- 59 lights have been vandalized. the cost, $35,000 just to repair one of those lights. it takes several months to do the replacement work. thieves are ripping out copper wire from stoplights and freewa

. the temperatures are falling. it is going to be a cold night. 39 in concord and 37 in livermore and los gatos. bundle up first thing in the morning. mostly clear and cold. sunny and dry this weekend. and we are looking at a milder pattern next week. here is a look at your overnight readings. this is what we call winter. 28 by morning this napa and 29 this santa rosa. the chill is in the air. 34 vallejo and 32 in concord. mid30s fremont and palo alto and san jose and oakland, san mateo 38 and 41 in san francisco and santa cruz falling to 35 degrees. here is a look at the system that shutdown the grapevine and brought our rain and had some snow earlier this morning. reported to the national weather service in our local mountains and this system heading on out and we will be watching the area of high pressure taking over. the cold, dry air is filtering in. the high pressure takes control starting this weekend and really holds on right on through next week. so it is a dry pattern next week. no rain in sight. put the umbrellas away and take advantage of the weather we have coming. it is going to b

know on the hayward side there's fog. concord, livermore, napa, santa rosa. yesterday, it was the north bay. patchy fog but hazy and warm. mostly sunny. higher clouds. next rain, thursday, friday. next thursday, friday. although it's looking more like a colder system than a rainy system. we need the rain. if you thought where is the breeze, there has not been much. others in the east bay, have a pretty good offshore wind continuing. that for shom the offshore breeze is in place. that means the coast has really nice weather. temperatures on the lows are even warmer that morning than yesterday it will be sunny. mostly cloudy. there's some higher clouds. i think most of those day towards more central california. 30s for some. 49. redwood city, san rafael is at 41. livermore is 32. so some of those higher clouds to the south, the forecast model picks up on it a little bit. mainly about san jose south and then the fog will fall apart. there will be some but then it will go away. today, a challengey start. hazy sunshine. highs, 7 in clearlake. 70 in gilroy. sonoma is in there. st. helena warm

and concord. it is 36 degrees in hayward and downtown san francisco is sitting at the mid 40's. my noon time we are expecting widespread 60s everywhere. into the evening hours it will be mainly chilly. taking a look at your afternoon high in the south, about 56 degrees for santa clara and san jose. it will be 57 degrees for paula out toll. it will be upper 60s along the delta. about 57 degrees for pleasanton. >> the 7 day around the bay shows that we will have plenty of sunshine into the next work week. it will be in about the mid 60's for wednesday. >> new data shows that 2012 was a record year for california's wine and grape growers. they harvested an all-time high last year of more than 4 million t. in particular, farmers grew nearly 20 percent more of red wine grapes last year than 2011. the average price for all grades across the state also shot up 25% to $734 per ton. but napa county grapes were even more pricey. they averaged nearly $3,600 a ton. >> bill murray's been doing his thing, hamming it down at at&t pebble beach pro-am in the a.m.. in memphis, the warriors tried to recover fr

that, not too bad. 46 in concord right now. oakland has 50 degrees. it's 47 here in san francisco and santa rosa, 45 degrees. here's what we're expecting the sprinkles to end. sunny and chilly today. high and dry for the rest of february is the way it looks. in fact our next shot at rain does not look as if it will be coming in al the second week of march. and so we are dry for a while bay area. and in fact distinctly warm by next weekend. here's a little front that will be moving on through overnight. but everything else, they will head to the pacific northwest now, leaving us mostly high and dry. chilly today, northwesterly wind with kind of a chilly direction too. the numbers will not be too much. if you are heading out of the bay area, rain up there. down south, we'll get sunshine. your pinpoint forecast today, san francisco at 58 degrees. oakland's got 62. san jose at 59. 58 for livermore. your extended forecast will be going with nothing, but sunny side up as far as what i can see. if you look all the way to next weekend, we'll look f

one. temperatures slipping back to the 30s. take a look at walnut creek. 31 for you, 32 concord, 34napa, santa rosa, in santa rosa seeing temperatures anywhere from 30 to 34 degrees. you are right with in that freezing mark as well. mid-30s nevado areas along the east bayshore line, oakland 38, 36 haywood, half moon bay 40 degrees under mostly sunny sykes, it's a beautiful looking morning but a chilly start to the morning. if you are thinking about heading out to take a walk, be prepared. the king tides for another morning and that high tide comes in next couple hours, you can expect some of the tides to be larger than what we normally get. 41 degrees in belmont. 36 foster city, low's 30s, palo alto but again the sun is up and we will start to see a nice turn around in time for the an afternoon. a mostly sunny, dry weekend. that northwest flow so it's a cool, dry air pulling in. fan fest today starts at ten. temperatures will be around 50 degrees and the mid50s expected for the second half of the day. 57 for oakland today. 55 san francisco, upper 50s santa rosa, san rafael, into the

that frost on the lawn in pleasanton, also back in through blackhawk, all the way in towards concord. 36 in san jose. overnight, 30's will be common around the peninsula. look at the traffic heading into the city of san francisco from oakland, on the bay bridge. we we have clear skies. overnight, the patchy frost develops. tomorrow, waking up with the frost. during the daytime hours, a more seasonal day as far as our highs are concerned. this is the area of low pressure that brought us snow yesterday. it's out of here. high pressure quickly filling in. it's sitting pretty for the next seven full days. i'm not looking at any kind of precipitation until about february 21 to the 22nd. otherwise, here's a comparison. where we stand as far as precipitation, there you have last year's anemic numbers. so we're not doing too bad at all, especially in santa rosa. but these numbers dwindle very rapidly without the rainfall. heading to the beach, 60 in santa cruz. that rip current risk remains on the high side. keep that in mind. 50's, 60's across t

30s out toward concord and fairfield. high pressure continues to build offshore. as a result, the storm track heads way up to our north. of course we had the rain showers on thursday into early friday morning. look what happens. this high builds in and a dry week ahead. no rainfall chances in our forecast at all. lots of sunshine and temperatures do go up a few degrees each day, for sunday, monday, tuesday and into wednesday. here is our forecast model. clear skies for your sunday. we'll take this into your monday. same deal with mostly sunny conditions. maybe a patch or two of fog first thing for the morning hours for monday morning and for tuesday morning. as for the readings tomorrow, look at all the readings back up into the upper 50s. even talking about low 60s toward santa rosa and napa. downtown san francisco, just beautiful, in the upper 50s, 59. we could have a bit of a breeze out there, especially in the hills for the morning hours. winds approaching 20 miles an hour. san jose, upper 50s and lower 60s out toward morgan hill and gilroy. here is a look ahead at your f
